Accessibility Statement
Last updated: April 30, 2026
Our commitment
Nexus Social is committed to providing a platform that is usable by everyone, regardless of ability or assistive technology. We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, across both our public website and the Nexus Social mobile app (iOS / Android / Web).
Accessibility is not a one-time project. We treat it as part of every feature we ship, and we welcome feedback.
What we have done
- Semantic HTML5 markup on all public pages, with meaningful page titles, heading hierarchy, and landmark roles.
- Keyboard navigation support — every interactive control on the website is reachable and operable with the Tab/Shift+Tab keys.
- Visible focus indicators on form fields, buttons, and links.
- Alternative text on meaningful images; decorative images marked appropriately so screen readers skip them.
- Sufficient colour contrast (≥ 4.5:1 for body text, ≥ 3:1 for large text and UI components) — verified against our brand palette.
- Mobile app: every interactive element exposes
accessibilityLabel and accessibilityRole for VoiceOver (iOS) and TalkBack (Android).
- Support for OS-level Dynamic Type / Larger Text settings — text scales without breaking layout up to 200%.
- No flashing content above the WCAG seizure threshold (3 flashes/second).
- Captions for embedded videos where supplied by the publisher; synthetic captions are not auto-generated yet (see "Known limitations").
- All forms include programmatically-associated labels and error messages.
Conformance
We self-evaluate against WCAG 2.1 AA. We have not yet commissioned a third-party VPAT audit; if you require one for procurement or compliance purposes, please email compliance@my-nexus.social.
Known limitations
We are working on, but have not yet reached AA conformance for, the following:
- Auto-generated captions on user-uploaded videos. Captions are honoured when a publisher provides them; we do not yet generate captions for arbitrary user uploads.
- Live audio rooms. Real-time speech-to-text in voice rooms is on the roadmap; today we expose participant speaking state but not transcripts.
- Some emoji-only reactions. A small number of legacy reaction shortcuts surface a screen-reader fallback that reads the emoji description rather than the chosen meaning.
Assistive technology compatibility
The Nexus Social experience is regularly tested with: VoiceOver (iOS / macOS), TalkBack (Android), JAWS and NVDA (Windows / Chrome & Firefox), and the latest two major versions of Safari, Chrome, Firefox, and Edge.
Reporting an issue
If you encounter an accessibility barrier, we want to hear about it. Please include the page or screen, the assistive technology and OS you were using, and a description of the problem.
We aim to acknowledge accessibility reports within 2 business days and to resolve confirmed issues with the next regular release cycle (or sooner for blocking barriers).
Standards we work to
- WCAG 2.1, Level AA (W3C)
- EN 301 549 (European Accessibility Act baseline)
- Section 508 (US federal procurement reference)
